Dating & Disabilities

One of the biggest problems faced by people with disabilities when dating is being treated differently than other able-bodied persons. Disabled single woman Vilissa K. Thompson shares her experience with this in her own words, saying:

“I have eye-rolling moments when men message me solely about how ‘inspirational’ I am because I share my disability and profession on my profile. Stop sending those kinds of messages to us!  We get enough inspirational mess in our day-to-day lives, and that is not being sought after in the dating experience.”

So, if it’s so hard to date with a disability…why, try?  We believe one of the best ways to boost morale in dating with a disability is to hear stories of other people in similar situations who have found love.

That’s why, we are hosting our first ever #WheelLove webinar.  In this webinar, you will meet Ms. Kimberly Jordan and her fiancé Derrick Waters. Join us on February 23rd at 6p.m. EST to hear how Kim and Derrick have made love work while also managing their disabilities.  We plan to have a lively and open conversation about dating with a disability. Bring your wine, your chocolate and strawberries and your listening ears.  You do not want to miss this webinar.  Learn more about how to join the event here.
