Accessible Yoga Instructor

Marka trained in Baltimore before earning a full scholarship to The Boston Conservatory and later joining Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, where she was invited into Ailey II. She spent nearly eight years in Buenos Aires teaching, performing, and choreographing. Returning to the U.S., she became a firefighter, EMT, and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, blending medical knowledge with movement education. After surviving two cervical spinal cord injuries—the second resulting in incomplete quadriplegia—she adapted her dance-based fitness program, Universal Physicality, for rehabilitation and inclusive teaching. Today, Marka teaches ballet, Accessible Yoga, Face Yoga, and movement for all abilities while serving as a spinal cord injury peer mentor and advocate. Her mission is to inspire strength, resilience, and joyful movement, proving that life remains full of possibility.
